Public Speaking

What is Public Speaking?

Public speaking involves standing in front of a group of people and delivering a speech. It can be in front of people whom you know (e.g. at a family celebration) or a crowd of strangers. It could be a prepared speech, extempore speech or an impromptu speech. In the case of extempore and impromptu speeches there is hardly any preparation time. It can unnerve even the best speakers. Fear of Public Speaking is the greatest fear in this world - greater than the fear of death. This would mean that lying dead in a coffin is more pleasant than having to deliver the eulogy. Speaking in front of a large group can be really scary for most people. However it is possible to conquer this fear through proper training and practice.

Importance of Public Speaking

Being an effective public speaker puts you on the fast track to success. It helps to improve your communication skills and opens a whole new world of opportunities for you. It helps to overcome fear and increases self esteem.

In today’s world, if you want to be a leader, you have to possess outstanding communication skills. A constant complaint of the corporate sector is that graduates these days lack communication skills-even those who do well in academics. As a result, they are deemed unemployable.

The art of Public Speaking is a skill that should be developed in children. It helps to shed inhibitions, builds confidence and improves critical thinking. A confident child becomes a confident adult.

Under the CCE system of the CBSE syllabus, school students are expected to have excellent speaking and presentation skills. It is therefore imperative that Public Speaking techniques are honed in childhood. Making your child a confident speaker is the greatest gift you can give.

Master Ur Mind aims at helping every child speak effectively and confidently. While it is important to know how to speak, it is even more important to know what to speak. Master Ur Mind kindles the flame of desire for general knowledge in a friendly, informal and interesting atmosphere.
